It’s Juna here today.
I’m cataloguing my favourite red lipsticks today 🙂
I must admit I have shied away from bold red lipsticks most of my life, I just did not have the confidence to pull it off. But experimenting with colours and finding out shades of red that complement my skin have made me a fan of red lipsticks 😉
I always go for red lipsticks with warmer (orange) undertones, as lipsticks with cooler (blue) tones tends to clash with my brown skin tone.
One piece of advice I will give for people with dark skin tones like me is, don’t hesitate to experiment with dark colours! Darker shades of red, brown and purple lipsticks actually go really well with our skin, it’s just a matter of trial and error in finding your perfect shade!
1. Clinique Long Last Lipstick in FJ Merlot.
This lipstick is a perfect way to try out your first shade of red. It’s a very soft shade of red that does not stand out too much, and it’s perfect for everyday wear. As you can see I have used and abused this lipstick!
2. Revlon Colourburst Lipstick in 095 Crimson
A new purchase I made, this lipstick is bright and bold. It has got a more orange undertone to it and really brings out the blush on my cheeks and gives an overall bright, young look.
3. L’Oreal Colour Riche Serum in S503 Bright Burgundy
One of my essentials, this lipstick is pretty similar to the previous Rimmel one, but it has a deeper ruby undertone. I do a lighter application (couple of dabs and blend that out on my lips) for day, and do a full application for a night look. How can you go wrong with this one?
4. Maybelline Superstay 24 Colour in 585 Burgundy
Another burgundy shade, but this lipstick has a bit more ‘vamp’ to it. The colour is incredibly long-lasting and it gets a bit darker within an hour or so. The lipstick is double-ended, one end is the colour (this dries out in 2-3 minutes) and the other end is a moisturising balm that helps keep lips soft and supple.
5. Revlon Colourburst Lipstick in 015 Grape
Bonus look! I was pretty apprehensive about buying this at first, but I loved it at first try. Though the lipstick colour is pretty intimidating, it looks really good when applied. It is great for a party look 🙂
Stay fab everyone!xx
